Jay is a super cool guy and very welcoming. I enjoyed training at the Mega BJJ Open Mat and had a fun time. Everyone that I met were just great people overall. I’m glad that I made the drive and trained with everyone. Whaling City is an awesome place to train BJJ. They offer a lot of martial arts and have a great schedule. Highly recommended. Easy 5/5. Whaling City is an amazing place. I moved to New London three years ago with a combat sports background. Jay and the others coaches welcomed me with open arms. They have it all. It's the perfect environment whether your a hobbyist, competitor, or a beginner you will find what your looking for.
My son was very welcomed for a day pass for boxing training. The coaches are friendly and extremely well prepared.
I trained BJJ at whaling city for three years. The program is incredibly useful to those seeking to combine stand up wrestling and jiu jitsu on the ground. Many schools teach takedowns as an afterthought, but at whaling city the program teaches you how to grapple in any situation, standing or on the ground, and how to transition between them. The top tier instruction is a gold standard for those seeking to improve their BJJ, and I can't recommend it enough!
