This is the most disorganized and poorly run practice I’ve ever experienced. They didn’t schedule my intake apt until I was 12.5 weeks pregnant (despite the fact that I called at 8 weeks), which meant I almost missed my window for a nuchal ultrasound (fortunately I called and moved my apt up at the last minute and discovered this glaring error). If you’re pregnant and have an urgent medical question, there is no way to contact a doctor or nurse directly. You have to send a message on their portal and wait for a response, or call 911. Their answering service is AWFUL and unhelpful. They ask a million questions to verify you, tell you the doctor will call, but the doctors never call back. On top of that, they are slow and rude on purpose, and only one person works at the answering service after hours so you have to stay on hold for a while. Absolutely horrible.
Post script – when the condition didn’t improve I went to see a real doctor, and what the PA at WestMed had prescribed was exactly the wrong thing to do. The competent doctor gave correct direction and the problem cleared up quickly. These people are not to be relied upon for medical assistance *** I was the only patient but the wait times were still inexplicably long. Stop spamming me! You are sending blatant marketing emails under the guise of “patient portal“ with no unsubscribe option. I am not your patient and want nothing to do with you – I had one very poor experience dropping in for a medical problem. Pretty sure spamming off private medical records is illegal.
This place is extremely frustrating to deal with because of Summit Health. There is no way to contact the doctor’s office directly, and you always end up having to talk to their call center, and then get a call back. If you miss a call from them for any reason, it’s impossible to call back. I’m truly worried about any sort of emergency coming up during my pregnancy, because of their convoluted and time consuming procedure of contacting them.
