I went in with severe abdominal pain and was pretty out of it due to the pain. I was unclear the path that was happening to help me and asked a blonde nurse, Saturday 7/12 in the am, what the plan was… the rudest I’ve ever been spoken to by a healthcare professional was the reply, (about as snarky as one could say it) “what do you mean? On July 6th at 10:00 p.m., I brought my son to the emergency center at Westlake Hospital and had one of the worst healthcare experiences I’ve ever encountered. I work in the healthcare field myself, in both administrative and clinical settings, so I understand the pressures of emergency care - but this was unacceptable by any standard. My daughter has chronic pain due to fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, as well as Cysts. She works closely with a pain Doctor who has told her that if she has breakthrough pain, she needs to go to the ER. (He has even written a letter specifically for the ER departments clarifying her diagnosis.) Due to her pain, she has had to go into the ER frequently, as her pain spikes to a 10 almost daily.
