When a friend suggested this for dinner, I thought Gastropub was a surprising choice from her, but this dinner exceeded my expectations. Calling it a Gastropub is an understatement.
The positives: our food was actually quite good & the servers were very friendly & courteous. The outside seating was mostly comfortable & cozy where we were at in spite of the heat & we were seated without any wait. The negatives: from the time we were seated to the time we were served our food was almost 2 hours (1 hour & 50 minutes, to be exact) before we were served our food & it was a bit pricey for what we got. Well after numerous reminders from friends to visit "West Side Tavern", I did. We had out of town guests and went for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was very busy but we were seated right away. The service was a bit slow due to the patronage, so it was understandable. The staff is amazing and very friendly and helpful. This used to be favorite restaurant, I've been coming here for about 4 years. My recent trip was this past Monday evening to celebrate with my partner. The food was flavorless, came in insultingly small portions, and was super overpriced. We ordered the duck and the short rib. The duck came with confit braised orzo and veg, but the entire dish was lacking any real flavor or umami. At nearly $40 a plate I expect crispy skin, tender meat, and rich, savory flavors.
