My experience with maternity has been very mixed. Most of the midwives have been lovely, supportive and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, my experience with higher-level decision-making, particularly regarding maternal mental health, has been very different. We just had our second baby at Mercy and the experience was vastly different from when we had our first baby. The midwife’s, doctors, everyone we interacted with were so so good. I’m so glad we didn’t go private and it was the right decision. Special mention for Claudia, Adelaide, Fadwa, Kate, Mei and Simer Kaur you were all so helpful and we will be forever grateful to you. So many others whose name I don’t remember now, but thank you so much. Really appreciate the care, respect and love we received this time around.

We welcomed our second child into the world at 12:31am Sunday morning at Werribee Mercy Hospital and honestly, we could not be happier with the care my wife received. The midwives were absolutely incredible throughout a very long labour. When you’re deep in the trenches and feel like you physically and emotionally can’t keep going, having supportive, calm and encouraging people around you makes all the difference.
