First time visiting Wellsboro. Tried the Wellsboro House Restaurant on a Friday night for dinner. Very busy, but only had a 15 minute wait. We chose to take seating in the bar area at a high table. Our waitress, Ashley, was very good. She was attentive, friendly, and accommodating. The ambiance was very nice, but be prepared for a lot of noise from talking. Subpar food and extremely expensive. I understand it’s not cheap to eat out anymore but $100 for two people felt ridiculous especially when the food was average at best. We were told to seat ourselves and awkwardly walked around the busy restaurant looking for seating until we were told there were only high tops available. Service was slow and not friendly. $17 for the mozzarella wheel appetizer which was average. $25 for shrimp scampi that barely had any shrimp. What a wonderful place with such a warm, family-friendly atmosphere! Chris and Laura have fantastic personalities and a way of making everyone feel welcome. My friend Mike had the chicken Parmesan, which was delicious. I enjoyed the New York strip steak—tender and full of flavor. The amber beer quickly became a favorite for Mike, who enjoys Amber Bock.
