Outstanding Music School Evergreen School of Music is a wonderful music school. Our two children have been taking lessons for 2 1/2 years. Our son, 11 years old, takes guitar lessons with Kevin (the owner) and our daughter, 7 years old, takes piano lessons with James. I can't say enough great things about either teacher. Both our children are thriving with their music and love playing!!

upsetpianomom James doesn't teach kids to read music, but instead by memory. He doesn't; however, really disclose that. After thousands out the door, we figured out the kids could play, but by copying him. Kids NEED to learn to read music and for what he charges, it is the least he could make sure happens. He's also a bit of a jerk if you ever have any issues.
great instructors As a mom of 3 musicians, I am extremely happy with our experience at the Evergreen School of Music. Dean Oldencott is an outstanding drummer, teacher, and role model. James Blacksun is great at teaching jazz piano to students at all levels. I guess my only complaint would be that the space is cramped.
Okay. The Evergreeen School of Music is just mediocre. They don't offer good wind instruction. Their piano teacher is probably their redeeming trait as she works well with young students.
