I took my car here for a non working air conditioner. As part of the repair qoute I was told I needed an additional repair on a vent door for a problem the tech heard. I had heard a noise from the vents for a while and figured this was a good time to repair. When I picked up my car the air conditioner was fixed but the separate noise was still present. We have brought cars and trucks to Wells even before they moved to this location. The service has always been great and reasonably priced. The staff has always been understanding and willing to help.
I got quotes of one hour (about $160) to rewire the fuel pump if it had been incorrectly wired by the previous repair shop (causing multiple electronic problems), and about $208 for engine no-spark diagnosis. I even cut a fuel pump access port in the bed of the pickup truck to make it easy. What I got back was that the coil, distributor cap and rotor needed to be replaced, and that was all they were going to do, take it or leave it. I just called to get an estimate to have four tires I already purchased mounted and balanced on my vehicle and was quoted $500. When I checked with Walmart, they offered the same service for $18 a tire. As a consumer, it’s hard to reconcile a difference like that. I genuinely want to support local businesses rather than large corporations, but price gaps this significant make that choice difficult. I’m hoping there may have been a misunderstanding with the original quote, but either way, the experience was disappointing.
Wells Automotive did a great job of diagnosing and repairing the brake fluid pump (actuator/booster) on my Toyota Prius. And Juanita is a national treasure!
