Spent approx £2000 for a private gastroscopy to discover I had a Hiatal Hernia. GP made no effort to investigate and was only interested in handing out prescriptions. You have to fight to get anything out of the NHS as the GPs are not incentivised to refer patients to a specialist when a GP is unsure about a diagnosis. Instead, GP practices are incentivised to cut the number of patients they refer to hospitals. They'll often choose to delay, putting their patients at further risk.

I've never met any of the medical staff (been a patient 4 years) but have spoken to a GP on the phone twice. The staff are mostly very nice when you eventually get to speak to them but efficiency and communication are really poor. I don't feel the staff appreciate how problematic that is. When you are suffering, you should feel the surgery staff care and I definitely don't get that feeling - all excuses, no solutions. I understand lack of resources is largely to blame but communication should still be much better.
