This is the best breakfast I have Ever had! The biscuits and gravy were out of this world also the apple pancakes were delicious and different than any I have ever had. I also went fpr dinner. I ordered a steak which is not easy to be perfect. I found a place as good as Ruth Chris---Welfare Cafe!!!! This is an amazing place and the atmosphere is beautiful!!!!! Go there you will be very happy all day long. I Promice!!!!

My complaint with the Welfare Cafe doesn't have to do with the food, but the management. A hidden gem well worth finding! – My husband and I (Austinites) have dined at the Welfare many times over the past four years. The food is phenomenal - on par with what you'd expect from a fine-dining establishment in any major city. Creative specials, excellent wine list and knowledgeable, attentive staff. Truly one of the best dining experiences in the Hill Country. more than worth the drive.

My favorite is to drive out there at sunset and get there at dusk. The place looks great at night. The food is the best. I love the Steak!!! I also love the Jager Sn... read more
