Built our house in 2004 and used Weather Shield windows and patio doors. Within the first two years we had huge issues. They would offer NO help whatsoever!!! Told us our issue was that we had too many plants in our house. Our house is approximately 3500 sq feet and at the time we had maybe six average size house plants and a 4 ft ficus. Avoid WeatherShield at all costs. No local selling dealers will do repair and other companies and carpenters will not touch their product due to poor quality.

Placed an order on Menards website for a standard 72" x 80" vinyl aluminum clad door on June 17. The site showed delivery expected by July 5. Just received a notice that they won't be shipping until July 18. One month for a standard size door is ridiculous. I will update if this changes. Looking for alternatives now.

We installed 30 Weather shield windows and one patio door in our retirement home, and they ALL have been a problem. Quality is very poor; support is non-existent and local dealers will no longer work with them due to the many problems they have had to deal with. On three occasions I have tried to get help with failures on their products starting shortly after they were installed with little to no satisfaction on my part. Our business purchased Weather Shield Legacy windows about ten years ago. From the beginning, they were so difficult to shut and lock we had to tell people to never open them. Now we have two broken windows, and have been trying to get them replaced for SIX MONTHS. Multiple emails, phone calls. Twice they came out to replace and they had the wrong hardware and had to take them back. Was told they would expedite. That was weeks ago. I bought 7 windows from Weather Shield. The windows look nice but all of them suffer, to a different extend, from air infiltration problems. Three of them (big casement windows) are very hard to open and close, probably because the operators/hinges are not adapted to the weight of the sash.
