If you are ever near Oak Creek, Wisconsin, the WE fishing pier is a nice place to go site seeing, deer watching, as part of a nice Sunday drive, and of course, fishing. The pier is open to the public from March 15th through November 15th. It opens at sunrise and closes at sunset, Sunday through Saturday. Enjoy!
You know Haas, park, the park nearby? Well the area next to that park used to be Haas Farms, and now it's a massive ash field, now unusable land for centuries, thanks to the Oak Creek Power Plant. It's quite sad actually, they lowballed a price on the beautiful farm and messed it up by dumping fly ash there, without the family owners knowing the full extent that the land would be ruined.
The Oak Creek plant spews toxic coal dust and fly ash all over Southern MKE, falling mostly on low income neighborhoods. Really should be shut down/replaced with wind turbines
