The Park at Surprise has changed a lot over the past two years. At first we did enjoy "eating like royalty" as advertised. However, with the changes in the economy, dining has gone from 3-4 stars to 2 stars ... sometimes not too far from a college cafeteria. The meats have gone from USDA choice to USDA select or worse. Chicken dishes have gone from "young fryers" to "retired setters", large and tough. Pork is also tough ... at times just inedible. I moved my mother in 20 days ago. I've popped in several times randomly and have found my mother glowing each time. I've not seen her consistently happy like this in years. She told me it felt like she was on a cruise ship with all the fun activities going on. I've seen the Activities guy interacting with the residents and he was most patient and caring. The Admin Staff have been very helpful throughout this whole process and have been super patient with my dad as he too adjusts to mother living there. The decor gives it a ... read more

I am a retired physical therapist. During my career I spent at least 25 years in home care and often saw residents in memory units. I am a harsh judge of these facilities. I have had personal experience with my own mother with placement in a facility. My father in law was at another facility in St Charles and we removed him due to extremely poor care and a resident there escaping and not being found for about 24 hours.
