We are east coasters who love Jenner. Kayaking with Watertreks EcoTours is always a highlight of our trips to CA. We always end up working with Keith to get set up. He is an absolute pleasure to chat with and a true fountain of information about the history, flora, and fauna of the area. We always end up chatting with him for a while. Expensive ($60 for 2 hours per single kayak) but otherwise lovely spot to kayak in and around the estuary where the Russian River meets the ocean. The abundance of bird and marine life makes it extra special, there are seals everywhere, as well as egrets, blue herons and ospreys. The folks running this place are nice, knowledgeable and offer real tips on how to make the most of your time. One of the bonuses of kayaking here is that you can access the north end of goat rock beach that is otherwise inaccessible on foot.
Keith was friendly and knowledgeable and a great representative for this small town business. He offered many tips and demonstrations to make us comfortable when we were on the water. We noticed the pride and care for the way he handled the equipment too. Visited with him several times during our trip and he always greeted me with a great attitude and even more local insight. Our kayak experience was amazing largely to the information and confidence Keith provided us with!
Keith was an excellent guide he told us all the best places to stop and the history of the area.
This review is about the booking process and customer service--I would not recommend this company if you want to reserve kayaks in advance of a trip to Jenner. The website is overwhelming and doesn't have an online reservation system. It took a lot of phone-tag to actually reach them, as they're a small operation and spend part of their time on the water--fair. My interactions with the owner were unfortunately frustrating.
