Waterford Hospital: Emergency Room

The Waterford Hospital is a testament to centuries of crippling stigmatization of mental illness. Although the staff may provide all the care they are able to give with the resources provided, the structure itself needs to go. Otherwise, those with mental health concerns will continue to shy away from seeking help for fear of being “locked up in The Mental”, and patients at the Waterford will not see the type of healing they deserve.

I went here today not expecting great things, I've never had a not terrible and terrifying experience in a hospital for mental health issues. Walking up I was terrified, it looks like an old abandoned insane asylum (which is pretty much what it is minus the abandoned to my knowledge?) In the waiting room I wanted to leave, the door was super loud and buzzing and even though there were never more than 4 other people in the (quite small) waiting room when I was in there, a Saturday morning.
