I want to thank the North Texas Poison Center for their prompt and professional assistance during a medical emergency involving my wife. After accidentally taking the wrong combination of medications, I called for guidance. It would be helpful if the person answering the phone had excellent English skills rather than proficiency. I'm sure the man is very smart, speaking at least 2 languages and very nice; however, in a time when poison control is needed, repeating oneself and needing to find alternative wording for comprehension can be very dangerous. It also lends to a very uncertain time for the person calling because it was at times very difficult to understand what was being said.

My life partner took a double dose of dementia meds. I paniced. I calked and the doctor who took my call was calm, asked questions in a very comforting manner and gave me reasons not to worry followed by what to look for and what to do just in case. Very thankful.

I mistakenly took my meds twice in one day. I was referred to the Poison Control Center by my insurance's nurse's line. The person who helped me was very kind and professional. She patiently went through the list of my medications with me and shared potential side effects of an overdose for each one. Once we were assured that I was not in imminent danger, she encouraged me to reach out to my physician for further review moving forward. I really appreciate that this service was here to help me!
