Fraud!!! – I went in to purchase a bottle of 1998 perrier jouet (a gift to celebrate our first wedding anniversary) for what I though was a reasonable price. The salesman went to the back and returned with a sealed box (as this was a gift) of the '98 vintage I had requested. Nowhere on the box was the vintage displayed, but the salesman assured me that this was the 1998. I happily paid. When my wife opened the gift, we discovered that this was not in fact the '98 vintage, but the '95 instead, which is rated significantly low... read more
Bad service! – I called to ask the price of Maker's Mark, and they wouldn't tell me! I'm supposed to "just come in and see." Yeah, as if I have the time to do that. -Sorry, but a store that won't offer such basic service just won't cut it. There are plenty of other friendly stores in my neighborhood that will help.
"CheapY" – This place is a quite friendly place overall, except for (at least one) wine salesmen who is so dumb that I wonder what this guy has been studying as a wine salesperson. One guy said he never even heard of the regions nor wines ( one of them was quite famous wine which I heard is Tom C's favorite), which I read about in one of the most famous wine magazines. Basically, their selection is quite boring, not interesting nor hip, with a bunch of crappy cheap and cheapy bottles. Maybe it is good to look for the cheapes... read more
A Rose Right under my nose – Last year I made a trip to Moscow, and came back in love with a particular Japanese wine. I searched many places, few had heard of it, and a competing store (on ASTOR place) told me that they carried but were 'awaiting shipment'. That went on for a week, until I happened to go to Warehouse. They knew it, had it, and it was $2 cheaper than the other place. Since then I am a loyal customer.
Best reason = Best prices – Selection is better than average on wine, average on spirits, basic on Single Malts. It's not hard to get help there, but help in choosing liquor is of questionable value, no one can tell you what you'll like. Never had the chance to test the service where it really counts: return or refund. I read what other reviewer said about returning a bottle of bad wine, I had a similar experience on my corner liquor store, which I patronized for years, and stopped shopping there after that. What brings me t... read more
Horrible Customer service, bad product – Terrible customer service. I bought a terrible bottle of wine, and they would not take it back. the manager was the rudest person I have ever come in contact with.
Rarities Found – After passing by Warehouse countless times, I recently went in to look at their selection. While it was not massive, I was pleasantly surprised to find many excellent French reds that are not widely exported. I did not utilize the staff's expertise, but from what I overheard, they all seemed to be knowledgeable. I will definitely return.
It has a few gems – After looking at astors selection of ports, I went here and came across a dow's 77 at a unheard of price - the salesman produced a carefully cellared bottle from the locked cooler and I was on my way. Needless to say the port was wonderfull and they have gained another loyal customer. Also have a nice selection of german whites and cali cabernets, plus amazing prices on scotch/whiskey etc.
