we spent a very cold december week in Slate Crossing and had an AMAZING time! we were expecting to be cold and uncomfortable due to weather (teens at night) but the domes insulation worked perfectly. once we arrived and kicked on the heaters we were comfortable within the hour, going to sleep was a treat thanks to the provided heated blankets! as someone who has stayed at Wanderlust in every season there will always be something about winters in the smokies I love and wanderlusts ability to keep us warm through sub freezing ... read more
We had a wonderful stay! The dome was so cozy and had everything we needed. The temps dropped drastically Saturday night but we stayed nice and warm!
This is our second year staying at Wanderlust Woods. We stayed at Moonshine Hollow dome the first year and at Slate Crossing this year. We loved the stove and hammocks that are in the outdoor space under the dome. It was great for smores and relaxing while listening to the sounds of the creek in the evening. The host and instructions for arrival were excellent both years.
Not a safe place for families. We saw a bear, it came really close to our site while we were making s'mores (and at night it rummaged our site), there was a gas leak and electrical issue (good luck finding a reliable enough outlet that will charge your phone through the night). Fairy lights stream right by your head and could easily wrap around your neck at night. They'll look for things to try and charge you for several weeks after you leave.
