Never met Walt before I walked in his shop yesterday. I left today (with all the repairs on my boat completed) feeling like I just did business with an old friend. Walt's repaired my Yamaha outboard quickly and his charges were reasonable. He used all Yamaha parts and fluids. Walt did a great job. Highly recommended. I'll use him again.
Walt is truly not only a boat lover but wants each customer to enjoy their boat. He has stopped me many times over the past years of wasting time and money on equipment that was just not worth servicing, or pointing out service items that needed to be done to prevent future problems. I’ve recommended his services to friends and family and everyone is always pleased with his services. Thank you again for keeping me safe on the water. You have been in business since 1979 for a reason.
I started calling around to get my 60HP motor fixed as it was idling very low. One place suggested the full 100-hr maintenance at $800 + $200 work-it-on-the-lift fee. Based on the symptoms, Walt suggested I first put some engine cleaner in the fuel and then drive it 3 or 4 times to see if that clears it out. I had my first and last experience with Walt today. I called his shop shortly after 8:00 this morning and while attempting to tell him what my boat was (not) doing and what had happened to cause it to get that way, Walt was pretty rude and basically told me to get to the point. I would have normally been done with Walt right about there but the other marine mechanics I had spoken with were 1-2 weeks out and Walt said I could bring it by his shop today at 11:00.
