The food and service here are peak excellence. I would recommend Walter's Basin to any and all.
We came for the first time on a Saturday evening in late August. The restaurant is right on Squam Lake with great views. We decided to eat in the bar because we didn’t want to wait 20 minutes for a table. We ordered the haddock bites appetizer on special. It was delicious, flaky, slightly spicy with a creamy aioli. We arrived at 7 pm with an 8- and 5 year-old in tow, were shown to a great table by a window looking out on the lake, and thus began the best dinner we’ve had in ages. The service was great and staff all seemed happy and comfortable doing their work. The food—even the kids menu—was top notch. Salads were made fresh and delicious, entrees were well-executed and filled with veggies, and the desserts were superb. We can’t wait to come back.
