Fantastic Home Cooking!! This place is hometown and serves great food! Good southern cooking is not healthy, so don't expect that but it's great! Round tables are so fun, even when there are people that you don't know sitting at your table.
Fabulous Food Fantastic experience. Southern cuisine is their specialty but they have an excellent menu with variety of steaks, seafood, and regional specialties, like Po-Boys. We stopped overnight in Vicksburg and Walnut Hills was recommended by the hotel management. I had the best broiled redfish I have ever tasted. It was served on angel-hair pasta with bacon-wrapped sauteed asparagus. It was mouth watering. My husband had a beef-kabob which he raved about. We stayed over the next day to visit the national park and decide... read more
On a mission for Chicken and Waffles, found a review for this restaurant. They no longer had this on the menu, so we looked for something quick, as we were passing through. Couldn't resist the pimento cheese and Louisiana sausage appetizer, an odd combo, but really good. Fried pickles were great. Crab cake/salad awesome. Can't say how the catfish po'boy was, because I was too stuffed to beg a bite from my husband. The prices here might look steep, but the size of the portions was ample. Service was slow since they had a litt... read more

Not to be missed! – We were passing through Vicksburg for the first time and got a reference to this place. Ordinarily we're not drawn to places which feature fried chicken as their specialty but the reviews were all excellent so we thought we'd give it a try. It was well worth it. The restaurant is located in an old house downtown which can make moving around a little tricky when it's crowded. And it was crowded when we arrived which is usually a good sign. After a short wait for which our waiter apologized we were led to a... read more
We were passing through Vicksburg and stopped at their visitor center to get ideas of what to see and where to eat in Vicksburg. A young southern belle in a pink hoop skirted dress suggested Walnut Hill Restaurant. The food was authentic southern cooking. Fresh flaky catfish fried in corn meal served with vegetables seasoned to perfection did not disappoint us. Walnut Hill has charm and great food. Don't miss it if you are in Vicksburg.

The food, whether on the "pitch 'til you win" round table or served as plate lunches, is superb. The service is quick and the wait staff polite and efficient.
