We visited on a rainy afternoon and decided to take the underground mine tour. It turned out to be an excellent experience. The mine provides a fascinating insight into how opal mining works and what conditions miners have worked in over the years. The informative film inside the mine helped explain the mining process, while the film in the reception area gave a good introduction to the history and lifestyle of Lightning Ridge.
