Went into waitakere A+E on friday afternoon with some abdominal pain and nausea, I was seen within 5 minutes of waiting which I know can be rare. Every single staff member i came across in the 12 hours I was there were amazing. From the team doing a CT scan to the nurse who took blood smaples and everyone in between. I've been to Waitakere Hospital three times, all in 2024, and not a single visit helped me at all. The first two times I visited, I had been vomiting for almost a week and was unable to eat. Both times I did a blood test, and they told me I had an upset stomach. That upset stomach turned out to be cancer, which, when I did blood tests with Auckland Hospital, found my cancer markers to be over 100x higher in those blood tests. Quick response from staffs. Nice and clean place
If I could give this hospital zero stars, I would. I am deeply disappointed and alarmed by the level of care my mother has received, not only during this recent visit, but also at the time of my birth nearly two decades ago. It is extremely concerning that the standard of care appears not to have improved over such a long period. On both occasions, my mother was placed in life-threatening situations that could have been avoided with greater attention and care.
