I saw Dr Refai twice and after my second appointment with him, it became clear that he was operating with biases against me. At my first appointment I explained long-term GI symptoms that had recently become severe. I was ready to be referred to Cleveland Clinic’s motility clinic at that time as I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and slowed motility is a common cause of the symptoms I have for people with my condition. Gave me information I needed and have no complaints about his staff. Very informative.
UPDATE: today is 12/15/24- 6:00 p.m. NOBODY CALLED ME BACK. I would never recommend this physician to anyone, EVER. A couple years ago, I was going to have a procedure done by him, but his office staff gave me all the wrong paperwork. I was unable to get a hold of a person, I was calling during business hours, but the lady that handles scheduling didn’t call me back so I left her a message that I was canceling my procedure. While Dr. Refai has a nice manner I find him unacceptable as my gastro doctor. Had colonoscopy by him. Did not need to meet him in an office visit beforehand. Did not meet him in hospital pre-procedure room or OR because he was "running late." Did not meet him after procedure either. It just seemed weird to never meet someone doing a procedure on you (with some history of colon problems and surgery).
