W. M. Keck Observatory features two of the world s largest optical, near-infrared telescopes, at the more than 4,000-meter summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii. At the center of each 10-meter Keck telescope is a primary mirror composed of more than 30 hexagonal segments that work together as a single piece of reflective glass.
