VSAC claims to be a student assistance corporation, but they are far from it. Their policies are conducive only to their private agenda and are tough to work with. Unfortunately, I had to go through VSAC for private student loans and they are no better than any other private loan institution. I sent a job application through their system and it glitched. It didnt have my university (which is a famous one). Because of the glitch I wasnt sure if my application went through. I tried emailing them asking for confirmation of receipt but but they never responded.

Run away!!!! 10 years later and another increase in payment notice just hit. I had a stellar payment record until my husband lost his job last Fall. VSAC was not kind or helpful, just reaffirming that I needed to ask my cosigners for money. I feel like I will never get out from under their boot. Find a bank that might still have some human emotion or empathy - or realistic financial planning - to offer instead of entrapping teenagers with loans valued at thousands of dollars.
