Great wilderness retreat! Lodging, boat rental, fishing, and hiking!
Spent a long weekend this fall staying with Voyageur Canoe Outfitters in their Black Bear cabin. It was exactly what we were looking for! This cabin is across the Seagull River from the outfitter building set roughly a 100 yards up in the woods from the river. The staff were great communicating with us before we got there and provided great service while we stayed. It’s a nice option to provide some amenities while still getting the BWCA experience as there is easy access to several entry points.
Best place on the Gunflint trail!
VCO was a great outfitter to use for a fully outfitted trip for newbies to the BWCA. With a complete outfitting package, a bunkhouse the night before the trip, breakfast the morning of the trip start, showers at the end, all equipment, are all included. Their website mentions their "world famous" pancakes but that is a HUGE understatement for how incredible Eric the Culinarian's pancakes are.
