Vital Vittles is a longstanding family-owned bread bakery in Berkeley, whose products are staples at natural food stores. While I commend their commitment to baking by milling their own grains, coming to the farmer's market every week with samples, etc., I personally don't like their breads very much, even after many attempts to get into it. The texture is very dense and the bread is on the sweet side; those are traits I don't look for in my breads, but I'm sure there are others who can (and should) give it a favorable revie... read more
