Disorganized scheduling staff and too many miscommunications for getting the right help. Lacking therapists right now.
A spiritual sanctuary (a lot of which came down to Shendo -unsure if Shendo is still part of the program). Compassionate, competent, knowledgeable staff. Unfamiliar with the name change to 'LifeHouse' and what that entails. Vista Taos is a life-changing experience for folks battling complex trauma.
Vista Taos was not just a calling for it was life pr death. I drove by VT many a time on the way to elk hunts up by the CO border. I would joke with my dad that I might have to go there. Well all jokes aside I found myself walking through that front door. I was greated by staff and treated like a human being from all the staff. I mean it is a rehab it's not summer camp. I wanted to wait a year before i left a review about my experience at Vista, and here we are. I am 1 year and 1 month sober !! When i first came to the facility i was in terrible shape, physically and mentally. I fought the treatment for weeks before i saw that i was actually getting better. I found my higher power in this place and my life has changed in dramatic ways. I have no urge whatsoever to return to my previous way of life and i must give the credit to Vista. I completed the 30-day program at Vista Taos and had an amazing experience and met a lot of great people during my stay. I have been in other treatment centers and Vista Taos is by far the best! JD was my therapist and had great knowledge and experience when it came to relapse prevention, identifying triggers and learning about the disease of addiction as well as tapping into trauma and trauma response actions.
