Dr Ellen basically said there were things that could be done to treat my condition. But that he wouldn't. This place doesn't like transgender people, or at least he doesn't. But the nurse was extemely rude too. Everyone was called to the back with a friendly "Mr, Clark" or "Miss Stevens". I got an angry and impatient yelling of just my last name. Did not receive even "acceptable" treatment. Absolutely horrid.
I am a current patient the first visit with the first doctor was wonderful then I got switched to a different doctor mind you I have two kidney stones which is the worst pain someone can have and they gave me tordol when I told them tordol doesn’t work for me they refused to give me something else for pain and just told me to go to er like it’s there job to manage my pain along with the er would have just sent me right back to my urologist. The service itself at VA Urology (Richmond) was fine. Dr. Murphy, Dr. Nelson, were great. The problem is it's impossible to get through on the phone. Their new Athena portal just doesn't work. We have tried to get a prescription refill through various ways. We're disconnected by phone and the portal won't let me on. A week has passed and the pharmacy still hasn't heard back from the doctor. Even the pharmacy can't get through.. We're thinking of looking for a different practice. A clinic full of racial discrimination. The old white woman at the front desk is so discriminatory against Asians. It's puzzling. I will never come back here.
I recently called Virginia Urology to reschedule an appointment, and I have mixed feelings about my experience.
