Buyers be ware, and heaven forbid you have an issue. I purchased a motor from Mr Jacobs after talking extensively with him about his product and service. He is very knowledgeable about these motors, but at the end of the day he is little more than a con artist. My Jacobs quoted my $18,500 plus core deposit. Ronnie Atkinson with Fish Hook Charters, North Myrtle Beach, SC. I currently own 3 boats with diesel engines. It is funny how I read some of these reviews on here about Doug, I currently live 5 hours away from Doug/Jacobs Diesel repair. There is no local marine diesel shop in the Myrtle Beach area for Cummins or CATS. Closest places are Charleston, SC or Wilmington, NC., and it is like pulling teeth to get anyone to rebuild or come to town to check your engines. I purchased a remanufactured 3116 motor for my boat in February of 2023 and have put over a 1000 hours on it with no problems. Jacobs Diesel always takes the time to answer any questions I have about my motors.

Bought two engines from Jacob's diesel/ Virginia diesel. Engine #1 arrived late. I didn't believe the excuses to why it was late. Too many excuses. Delivered with wrong bell housing, wrong valve cover plate, had no way to add or check oil, and some other small issues. After dropping oil pan and putting on my old bell housing and taking care of putting several parts from my old motor into my new the engine it actually ran good.
