This is a must do for anyone with a bucket list. It had been on mine forever. Just a side note, the part of the trail that is all downhill was washed out by Hurricane Helene. It was very hot out and we almost didn’t go, but so glad we did. We rented e-bikes and started on the trail next to the visitor center. You can ride the full way and back or schedule a shuttle to pick you up in Damascus and bring you back. We decided to ride to the halfway point at Alvarado and ride back. Beautiful bottom section of the trail and mostly shaded and cooler. I have ridden it many times - the top part - as well.
