Virago Robata Grill and Sushi Bar is a top notch upscale spin on the normal sushi joint. Unlike many other Nashville sushi bars which are more function than fashion, Virago is all about the ambiance and the experience. The sleek, trendy atmosphere offers Nashville locals a little taste of the New York scene. The Gulch location and superb service go hand in hand with what is, without a question, some of the best sushi in town. A bit on the pricey side, it is perfect for special occasions and a girls' night out. Be sure to try... read more

IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS – I've been going to Virago almost twice a week for the past two years. As someone who knows the place pretty well, I'd love to clarify the negative reviews. 1) Yes, you will wait a long time for a table and it gets tremendously crowded on Monday nights because of half price night. 2) Tuesdays are great because most everyone was there the night before for half price night. 3) Yes, you will most likely get horrible service if you sit ANYWHERE ELSE outside of the bar area. 4) I've never waited longer tha... read more
Great Scene! Wonderful Food!!! – I honestly can't understand why anyone would give this place a bad review. Don't give it two stars becuase it's not your cup of tea. Maybe you should just go to Denny's. I understand a 4 star rating, but 2!??? Wendy's gets better than that. Now that we all know what an excellent critic you are, you can move on to the next great restaurant and bash it...oh yeah, and when you keep righting bad reviews, it makes Nashville look bad. This place is my favorite place in Nashville. Not only is the fo... read more
Patient Diners Only – Virago is one of the trendiest places in Nashville! Not only is the sushi phenominal, but the scene is one to be a part of. Angry/Impatient diners Beware! It takes time to get a table, service, and food...especially on 1/2 off Mondays. Also, make sure that you ask your server which rolls are half off. Before I was a Monday night regular, I made the mistake of ordering some of the sushi that was not half price. Whoops. My cheap date turned in to an expensive night out. Please be prepared to have a couple... read more
bad service and not correct on the tipping – I went there because some friends told me that war really trendy. That was a huge mistake. I found the service really bad: more than once we have to repeat the order because the waiter forgot about it. It is also bad that they don't have any traditional sushi and the Nigiri that I tried with octopus was really bad. On top of it I left a tip according to what I thought was the right one considering my experience. You know what, they charged me 2 dollars more than what I have allowe... read more
Terrible Service – Went to Virago last night with my Girlfriend. I should've heeded the reviews which told me not to go there. The service is TERRIBLE. We had this waiter named "Dennis". The black shirt fits the attitude very well. When you go to a place, and it advertises something 1/2 off, you expect whatever is advertised to be 1/2 off. Well, not so much at Virago. 1/2 Sushi does not mean 1/2 Sushi. It means only a couple of rolls are 1/2 off. Dennis wasn't nice enough to tell us that before we ordered. Food took forever ... read more
Once a great restaurant – Virago was once my favorite restaurant in Nashville, but those days are over. After the remodel and expansion the place has become the new trendy spot for drinks. Too bad the service is horrible now. It's nearly impossible to get a table at a reasonable time and the process requires calling, leaving you're info, and waiting for the "reservationist" to call you back. This place was once a clam date spot, but is now a loud bar -- usually packed wall to wall-- of young "professionals".
Don't go to Virago if you are hungry. – We went to Virago last Thursday night. It was not overly busy and there was a short wait. Once we got seated it took forever for the waitress, who was not friendly, to take our order. Once we ordered it was literally over 1 hour to get our food and our table only ordered one entree and 4 sushi rolls. This should not have taken over an hour for our food. I doubt I will go back again. I have always heard geat things about this restaurant, and my experience was quite the opposite.
Get there early, sit at the bar, expect to spend $ (or just get takeout!) – Monday nights are no longer the dead nights but now 1/2 price maki (ONLY SOME- ask your server) and sake. MAKE RESERVATIONS. Typically EVERY table has a reservation on it so either show up early or late or come prepared to sit at the bar. The bar also tends to have the best service (including a great blonde bartender I think named Ben?). Avoid Dennis the waiter, avoid Mondays unless you are willing to be annoyed and jostled. If the price is important... read more
Cool spot – This place is pretty cool. Coming from Las Vegas and having experienced alot of cool & fun places...Virago would be a place I would definately visit again. A layed back, cool atmosphere without being overly pretentious. Good sushi, great place to meet new friends.
