Virago Robata Grill and Sushi Bar is a top notch upscale spin on the normal sushi joint. Unlike many other Nashville sushi bars which are more function than fashion, Virago is all about the ambiance and the experience. The sleek, trendy atmosphere offers Nashville locals a little taste of the New York scene. The Gulch location and superb service go hand in hand with what is, without a question, some of the best sushi in town. A bit on the pricey side, it is perfect for special occasions and a girls' night out. Be sure to try... read more

The sushi is amazing!!! – So I am not a really trendy atmosphere kind of person but whatever I am going to eat because it's a RESTAURANT.....yeah. The sushi is amazing. Yeah sometimes I think I could buy the same tasting thing at publix but ya know this sushi is big and scrumdiddlyumptious and I like sitting at a table while chatting and being served and Publix doesn't offer that. I had no problem with the service. I have only gone with big groups of friends so I don't really notice because I am talking the whole time. If yo... read more
Great sushi and atmosphere, few other options – We went to Viragos almost weekly for the past year. Usually the service is good, and the sushi is always good. Recently, they have changed what I consider the best filet and limited their non sushi menu selection. The last time we got the new filet, it was sitting in water and the 'new' wasabi potatoes are horrible. The waitress said they are changing the menu so please pay attention to the details of the menu. Great sushi, few other non sushi choices.
I have been to Virago two times, and it's been great both times. I'm a very picky eater, and even I found something great to eat. I will admit they are a little overpriced, but the atmosphere is worth it.
Agree...Bad... – I've been to Virago many times and never really thought much about it...not too good, not too bad. I went there for trendy events and birthdays. Well recently I read the reviews and then went the same night with my friends only to find out that all the Bad Reviews were absolutely True! They are rude and slow. I love sushi and was really looking forward to some, but by the time the server came to take our order, we had decided Virago would be a drinks only stop for us. We left and went somewhere else for food... read more
REALLY BAD – I heard that this place had some pretty good sushi. I went about a year ago and had cooked food and it was average but over-priced. I wanted to go back to try the sushi. The fish is not fresh and 2 out of the 6 people I was with got sick. The service is horrible and they have attitudes. Over-priced and really bad. Needless to say, I will not go back. The drinks are weak too.
Horrible is the only word that comes into mind – Virago was an excellent place at one time, but not any longer. We (generally a group of 6-10) would spend at least one night a week eating at Virago, that has stopped and doubt it will begin again. The staff are rude, they are slow, they are forgetful. I understand one server having a bad night or two, but when all the staff have the same overall attitude and lack of service skills, one must look to the management/owner of an establishment. I typically find dining in Nashville... read more
Nothing like I expected... – I finally visited Virago, this spot that my co-workers have been raving about. It was nothing like I expected. It was a Tuesday evening and it was crowded and loud. The atmosphere was much like a sports bar. I could barely have a conversation with my guest without yelling across the table. The drinks we ordered were mediocre at best. Mine was only half full! On the plus side, the service was decent, our waitress and valet were nice. All and all, Virago was a huge disappointment and I will not be ... read more
DON'T WEAR SHORTS – I'm from Nashville but now live in Chicago. I flew in for the weekend and was dreaming about Virago's Sushi and Chocolate Martini's. I reserved a table for 10 for my closest friends. When I arrived one of my dear friends who had driven up from Murfreesboro was turned away because he was wearing shorts. Now they were nice shorts and he had a nice shirt on as well - in addition it was 100 degrees outside! Also, before he made the hike from M'boro to Nashville he looked online to see if there was a 'dress co... read more
Great Sushi, Fantastic Scenery – For the past two years, I have been a regular patron at Virago for happy hour and have grown to love sushi because of this establishment. Yes, Virago is one of the more trendy establishments in Nashville and there CAN be some lapses in the service department, but if you carve out your own niche there and find your home, going to Virago will be as welcome and pleasant of an experience as going to your neighborhood juke joint. The first thing to keep in mind is that Mondays ARE insane due to th... read more
