I’ve been a loyal customer of Vincent’s clam bar in Carle place LI NY. for over 15 years, frequently bringing friends, family, and fellow military service members to enjoy the great food and atmosphere. However, my recent visit on Veterans Day left me quite disappointed. I was lucky enough to experience the real Vincent's on mulberry St in NYC in the 80s. This Vincent's I have to say the food was plenty full good fried shrimp and calamari. Service was great so was atmosphere. But the red sauce was terrible. Tried two different types both taste like ketchup. No flavor no taste. But I've have pasta dishes before that were quite good.
No real chef prepared my chicken marsala dish (probably a line cook) because it was sooo thick, obviously never "pounded" or cut slimmer, plus the plating was horrendously unappetizing looking like it was merely DUMPED onto the plate with excessive amount of sauce - plop, plop -- hardly befitting Vincent's quality. This was overkill because it was pre-mixed THROUGHOUT the pasta -- I've never heard of this before, it's due to NOT BEING A REAL CHEF! The restaurant was packed. The air quality was absolutely dangerous. There was no air conditioning or ventilation. It was my Birthday dinner. I felt bad walking out after my fiancee planned the dinner with sixteen of my closest family members so, I sat in total displeasure. The sauce was horrible! I took one bite and gave my plate back..
