I had a sinus surgery that I had put off for twenty years from an injury in my early 20’s. Dr. Chan was phenomenal. I can breathe again! Everyone that works at Swedish Ballard was great. They need to work on their billing transparency but that has nothing to do with the doctor and is a result of a broken US medical/insurance system. Dr. Chan resolved some strange side effects I had from the surgery because bone fragments isolated in my nose. He was really good the whole way through. I appreciated the care of the Dr. and all ... read more

I read all these negative reviews the day before I went to see Dr. Chan. It seems like the biggest complaints are that he feels rushed and that billing of procedures is confusing. I was a little nervous heading into the appointment, but I am a pretty open and direct person, especially with my healthcare. Dr. Chan did not seem rushed. He listened to my concerns, checked my nose for a deviated septum then talked about my nose physiology and answered all my questions clearly. He even asked if I had any follow up questions sever... read more

Dr. Chan was misleading about the procedure he performed, wouldn't tell me the name or details and then I was billed $1200 for a 10-15 minute appointment instead of the $30 copay I was expecting. He asked to look at my nose, I asked what he was going to do (based on papers saying what they might extra procedures for), and he said "I'm just going to take a couple pictures". He failed to mention that he was performing a nasal endoscopy that classifies as a surgery. He wouldn't even tell me the name of the procedure, despite th... read more

Made the decision to drive all the way from Olympia to get assistance from Dr. Chan with my throat injury and am so glad that I did. He was gentle, kind, knowledgeable, and understanding. He was a great listener, validated my pain, and pointed me in the right next direction for my healing. Highly recommend!

(cross posted from Swedish Otolaryngology) Dr. Chan and his team provided sufficient care to my case. However, a few issues I had: 1. Dr. Chan was extremely rushed. Upon coming in, he simply used a nasal scope to look into my nose cavity, said it looked a little inflamed, just use OTC Flonase, and rushed me out. I tried asking questions which were all met with dismissive comments; I didn't want to rely on a steroidal nasal spray short-term or long-term since I wasn't aware of the side effects and Dr. Chan simply said there w... read more
