When I walked in, the beautician looked me up and down in a way that felt rude and immediately asked, “Who are you here to see?” I said Ralph, and he responded, “Well, he’s not here.” I honestly didn’t know how to respond, so I just stood there awkwardly, looking at the woman sitting in his chair and waiting for him to say he was joking.
