I needed shelter from my drunk dad and the latina woman on the phone said I wasn't experiencing domestic violence because I was in their house. I needed a place to stay and they responded with skepticism, and I even heard a little contempt in her voice. So I got sexually assaulted and physically battered instead. I hope you get the same mercy you showed me.

We needed some help filling out paperwork, and we were recommended to this place. It was very helpful, and we got everything we needed.

I stayed here with my 2 toddlers, traveling 3000 miles to escape horrific abuse, only to succumb to a different form of abuse at this shelter. I was able to get in contact with UNITY home where we found safety, compassion, and staff who really cared and understood The trauma that myself and my children, as well as other women and children were going through. Good lord, don’t call this place if you are looking for compassionate caring people. I can tell you on my 10 minute call alone. I was interrupted multiple time, I was told my situation by the receptionist, I was judged on my age and what school I’m in, I was judged that I wasn’t willing to leave my car because I have a child with special needs and was told to call somewhere else.
