My fiancée and I visited My Neighbor Felix in Boulder for a special night out celebrating our engagement. We started with the Mango Margarita and the Signature Key Margarita—both were enjoyable. For our appetizer, we had chips and salsa. The chips were great, but the watermelon salsa was overly sweet, and the salsa verde was too runny, making it hard to keep on the chips. This was a first visit for me, I was meeting a friend for lunch. The service was prompt, but we had to ask that the music be turned down. We could barely hear the server. Before we ordered lunch, our drink order was reversed. Once we ordered lunch specials, those were reversed also. Unfortunately, we both had started in on our first taco before we noticed the flub. Bomb ass happy hour. Food, drinks, service. Period.
Don't let the eclectic mix of neon, old school Tex-Mex, and restaurant furnishings from some previous incarnation throw you off! The servers are friendly and the food is good. We've been here several times, but this trip, the queso fundido, fresh flour tortillas, and cochinita pibil were the standouts.
