Mixed feelings about this VA. I enjoy some departments, however, I did not have a good relationship with my primary care doctor, the ER doctor I experienced once was a total jerk, and dental does not answer the phone!
I was a patient at East Orange VA Medical Center from September 2020 to November 2021, and again from October 2023 to April 2025. Although I was allowed to speak directly with former Director Patricia O’Kane, I was repeatedly denied necessary surgery and proper medical care. The facility violated: • 38 U.S.C. § 1710 – my legal right to proper healthcare • 38 CFR § 17.33 – VA Patient Bill of Rights They refused to remove a malfunctioning spinal cord stimulator and told me my condition was “just a mild case of arthritis.” This... read more
The medical teams the VA has put together for this Hospital and so many outpatient clinics are the pinnacle of quality health care. My allergy clinic pre-appointment interview here with Nurse Roselyn revealed other potential problems. She was really intuitive during the interview about my condition and very kind, recommending she'd take me over to ER for a quick check after the clinic appointment.
