There is a cluster of rare human cancers in the immediate area of Vernon VT where the tritium was leaked into the groundwater. The tritium bloom traveled several miles from the plant. Livestock and crops were contaminated and anyone who consumed water or produce was putting radioactive material in close proximity with cell nuclei in their body where it has years to cause cancer. Before Vermont Yankee was built, I used to catch, at best, a 1.5 lb trout in the river. 2 years ago I caught a 85 lb Trout and 57 lb perch with a 3lb worm! It makes sport fishing (downstream from the plant) so much more fun. I mounted both of them on the wall and they now light the house at night with a warm soft glow. I have to throw a blanket over them at night so that we can get to sleep. Thats the only downside. Thanks Vermont Yankee!
