Went with some friends on a Sunday evening and sat outside on the patio in the back, but didn’t expect club vibes honestly. The music was so loud and we weren’t able to have a chat because we couldn’t hear each other. Tried the lemon soft serve, but not sure it was worth $17. Had a margarita pitcher that was really good though. Food was great but was hard to get our server’s attention sometimes (didn’t feel as hospitable as we expected). Varsity is hands down one of the best upscale sports bars in Providence. The space is beautiful and the food always exceeds expectations. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and made the entire experience feel effortless. Varsity is definitely worth a visit.
Props to the chef. The food was phenomenal. Great drinks and the bartender was A+. The service however, terrible. Our waitress couldn't be bothered. We felt more as though we were interrupting staff social hour and scroll time on her phone. The place was also filthy. Not a luxury bar vibe whatsoever. Please do some cleaning and hire better waitstaff so the food and drinks can get the proper acknowledgement they deserve.
Fabulous comforting food - Had the oxtail stew. Wonderful obliging service. Very comfortable bar seats. My only complaint is the actual sports programming. “Sports bar” is in the name of this establishment. Hive TVs - great. However, the best they can do is a non-English channel televising the World Cup in a fuzzy picture (looks like it wasn’t a HD channel on a HD tv) on the Scotland vs Morocco game.
