Dr. Gomes is a very easy person to talk to. She is empathetic and nonjudgmental. Therapy with her has enabled me to go back to truly living my life.
I’ve been seeing Vanessa just about weekly for a little over 2 years. In that time I’ve made significant strides in several areas of my life that I felt I needed to address, with the help of Vanessa. She’s incredibly kind and thorough, patient and thoughtful about the way she practices therapy. I cannot recommend a more professional therapist, as I’ve not seen one who I’ve been able to mesh with as well I have here.
Dr. Gomes is an amazing therapist, her sessions are extremely helpful and beneficial. She is very passionate about psychology and her work, and you can tell that through her clinical skills. She genuinely cares for her clients and is empathetic and nonjudgemental.
Negative experience. Helpful at first, listens to you vent, but never seems to have any helpful advice or actually understand you. Wouldn’t recommend for teenagers. Seems to react towards you as she would her own children, which makes you hesitant to be fully honest with her. Writes off depression and mania as defiant disorder, which is harmful considering the two need to be addressed completely different. Seems to create division between parents and teens. I can not say enough about Dr. Gomes and how grateful I am for everything she has done for us! She helped my teenage foster daughter (at the time) become less angry, understand her feelings, open up and talk and gave me the tools and advice I needed to be the best mom to her. Without her I truly do not know where we would be today. My daughter and I have an amazing relationship and I give her most of the credit.
