As an experienced cook and a very straightforward food critic, I can say without hesitation that Van Dorn Diner is the best diner in all of Alexandria. The retro vibe, the consistently warm service — from the staff all the way to the owners — is admirable. Always good, always. Staff is always pleasant and the food is always quick and good. Great Diners are hard to find in the region. They are either wildly overrated, lookin at you Bob and Edith, or corporate cutouts of real North Eastern Greek diners. Go here for reasonable prices and a good atmosphere.
