Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Opal Resort on Longboat, as it is on the Gulf and has a wonderful beach. Our suite overlooking the Gulf was very clean and well appointed. However the hotels website site is very misleading. The property is sprawling and if you don't want to drive, which was suggested by the staff, (who wants to drive when you stay at a resort) you have to book a shuttle ride (if you book it early enough to get a seat), which we were told are not run on a schedule and are few and far between. Beautiful rooms on a gorgeous private beach , excellent restaurant and bars . Wonderful pool area and every one was a pleasant and nice.
Quite enjoyed our stay here. The location and beach is the nicest part of the Longboat Key beach strip in my opinion. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The staff is lovely and very accommodating. Special thanks to Austin (manager), for making our trip memorable.
