The VHA has systemic problems. I’ve gotten services from VHA in 7 different states. There are some few great people working at this clinic helping navigate the awful system with kindness and respect. (Case worker Tresa is amazing.) Unfortunately, there are also plenty of staff who act with arrogance and disrespect and actively make navigating the system harder including refusing to coordinate inner VHA communication and expecting the patient to do the administrative work that is in fact their job. I received some of the best care I’ve ever had at the St. Mary’s and North Florida VA system. Scheduling appointments was always easy and straightforward, and the staff consistently followed up to make sure I was getting the care I needed. Even when I had to be referred out for community care, they stayed on top of it and made sure nothing fell through the cracks. Really grateful for how attentive and reliable this team has been.
