I've lived in Roger's Park for almost 20 years. I've known about V-Tone for most of that time, and had several friends who loved it, but I never saw myself as a "gym person." But about a year ago a partner finally convinced me to try it. I immediately felt comfortable there, because of the small, local feel to of the place. TL;DR: If you care at all about serious training or self-improvement, avoid this gym. You can pay less at Planet Fitness, get better amenities at LA Fitness, or have a far better boutique gym experience at places like Cheetah Gym. The only reason this isn’t 1 star is because some staff members were genuinely pleasant and the equipment is at least more than ratty bars and light machines. Been coming here for 11 years. It's always been a great gym--equipment is in good condition and always working; it's clean and organized. Moreover, the staff's friendliness and the place's welcoming atmosphere make it a true Roger's Park gem.
I really was excited to be a part of the community as I just moved here and am in walking distance. The guy manning the front was super polite and I'm sure for people with disposable income and don't care about price this place is adequate but $45 a month for a non absolute top of the line gym is absolutely preposterous. That immediately places that in most expensive gyms in Chicago without any real perks. Consider lowering the price for neighborhood users and I'm there but I can justify....45 dollars.. for a membership I ca... read more
Convenience location, but small GYM. The have 3 treadmills and usually one on them does not work properly. Small footprint to use some of the machines.
