Last weekend, my starter motor failed and I had my van towed to this mechanic's shop. I appreciated that William allowed me to stay overnight at the shop. Since I was up early the next morning, I removed the old starter myself to make it easier and faster for him to complete the job. When he arrived, he provided a rebuilt starter, and I offered to install it myself. At no point did he mention that doing so would void any warranty on the part. Van quit on a road trip. 70 Transporter stock 1600 Started stalling and sputtering going through the Shasta grades. Had been running fine for 3000 miles, well, fine for loaded down 99% stock old vw bus. Kind of a mystery problem I couldn't figure out and no place to tinker with it. Had it towed to William's shop. Like most VW shops he's swamped but got the bus going in 3 days. Thanks William. Bus did run better after valve adjustment, reset timing, and a carburator rebuild, but up the road it still had the stalling problem. ... read more
