Recently… and in the first day of a lengthy backcountry overland trip from Olympia where I live into the unknown in my beloved ’89 Westy, I was having some issues with the throttle arm of my newly installed Subaru 2.5L engine. I was super fortunate enough to have stumbled upon Will who owns VDub Autowerks. Needless to say when I pulled up at VDub Autowerks and saw the amount of VW’s in his lot that needed his attention… I thought my Westy wouldn’t be able to be seen for a few days. Well… I was wrong. Will squeezed me in his ... read more

Last weekend, my starter motor failed and I had my van towed to this mechanic's shop. I appreciated that William allowed me to stay overnight at the shop. Since I was up early the next morning, I removed the old starter myself to make it easier and faster for him to complete the job. Like most VW shops he's swamped but got the bus going in 3 days. Thanks William. Bus did run better after valve adjustment, reset timing, and a carburator rebuild, but up the road it still had the stalling problem. ... read more

I began a two-week trip in my Westy and on night one, the water stopped flowing feom the faucet. When we called, William understandably had a full shop and didn't have a replacement pump on hand. When we thought it might be an electrical problem, he was happy to investigate. He quickly determined the problem was in fact a bad water pump. Then you know what he did? He called around, found the part, installed it, and saved my trip! Other reviews talk about his honesty, but he was also kind and generous with his time. Thank you... read more
