Office staff give incorrect insurance coverage GUARANTEES UVA Health Prosthetics and Orthotics has taken my ability to get a required orthotic covered by my insurance. After my appointment with Dr. Cooper I was sent to the department close to closing. The girl at the front desk with piercings and tattoos, (I don't know her name), told me insurance NEVER covers orthotics. I was 20 at the time. When they send shoes off to be made they don't put enough shoe glue or whatever glue they use ,my shoes have always fallen apart after a few weeks
Alexander Ashoff & Dr. Gypson are GEMS. It took years to find a facility to meet my unique needs. They have gone above and beyond to ensure I'm taken care of every step of the way. Highly recommend. They have a prosthetic program on Wednesdays I believe. You see both Dr. Gypson and a licensed prosthetist to determine your needs. After the eval, if needed, you'll get an Rx day of and begin the process. No need to bring your own Rx. It's all in house within UVA.
