My son and I have been coming to UVA for years. My son was scheduled for an upcoming surgery . I took off work and had it planned for months. He had to be out of school for two weeks and I had that planned too! They called a week before and said they had an emergency and had to cancel so not only was my son still in pain, but we haven’t had the surgery done, which is holding him up from getting other things done. Reactive V proactive. One can have the chronic type of mastoiditis caused by recurring ear infections. They call is mild mastoiditis. Sclerosis of the mastoid bone can also result. Even though mild, treatment is required with or with out infection being present. The CT and MRI show it is there. When it is shown to be there on CT, treatment should commence.
